My ministry, under the umbrella of Church of the One God, has, over the years, taken on many different manifestations. The most consistent expression has been as a Spiritual Counselor. Kari A. was one of my students. During the time Kari was studying with me she was also an active member of a 12 Step fellowship. During many of our sessions Kari’s application of the 12 Steps as she was guided to utilize them by her Sponsor, was a frequent topic of discussion. Often times my take on a Step differed from Kari’s Sponsor.

A number of sessions took place wherein I presented Kari with an alternative interpretation and implementation of a Step. At that point Kari asked me to document, in sequence, my understanding of each of the 12 Steps. When Kari presented me with her request I saw it as a Divinely inspired opportunity. Perhaps due to my radio background my first thought was to do an audio recording as opposed to a written document. I possessed necessary equipment and had the software and hardware to both edit the recording and burn it to a CD. Kari and I completed the audio documentation over the course of three sessions. The first session covered Steps 1 through 3. The second session covered Steps 4 through 7. The final session covered Steps 8 through 12. After each recording session I burned a CD for Kari.

Some time had passed since I had produced the three CDs when Kari asked me for another set of CDs for a friend. I was inspired to see if I could edit the existing audio files down to a time-frame that would allow them to fit on one 80-minute CD. The three files together added up to 82 plus minutes. I was able to edit out enough long pauses and superfluous vocal expressions to get the combined files down to just over 79 minutes. Click on the link below to access the final audio.
